Online Bhagavad Gita Classes for NRI Children — A Parent's Guide
How families in the Gulf, USA, Canada, UK and Europe can give their children the Gita's wisdom over live Zoom sessions — without turning it into another chore.
For: NRI parents · Families abroad
Parents raising children in Dubai, New Jersey, Toronto or London share one quiet worry: their children speak the language of the country they live in, but not the language of the culture they came from.
The Bhagavad Gita is not a religious syllabus to be memorised. Taught well, it is a manual for attention, courage, honest work and emotional steadiness — exactly the qualities a child abroad needs.
What makes an online Gita class work for children
It has to be live. Recorded videos lose children in three weeks; a teacher who knows their names does not.
It has to be in clear English, with the Sanskrit introduced gently rather than imposed. It has to connect to school, friendships, screens and exam pressure — the real world the child lives in.
And it has to be small. Krishnamani Ma'am keeps her Zoom groups intentionally small so every child speaks in every session.
How the timings work
Gulf families join weekday evenings, 7:00–8:30 PM GST. North American families join weekend mornings, which fall in the early IST morning — a time she deliberately keeps free.
UK and European families join weekday evenings or Sunday mornings. Nobody has to sacrifice school, homework or family time.
Beyond the Gita
Many families begin with Gita sessions and add Effective Communication in English Language for their teenagers, or the Turning Point life-skills workshop before board exams.
The thread through all of it is the same: a calm mind, a clear voice and a sense of who you are.
